Tuesday we got up early for breakfast so we could spend the last full day on activities here at the Jambo.
Tuesday night we returned to camp to start breaking it down.

Winding Down Whirlwind Week

On Saturday we had a gigantic show in the arena.
The headline of the show was Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs.
He told us of his life in scouting and how scouting made him what he is today. Mike Rowe is an Eagle Scout from Maryland.
The show was three hours long and ended with a hour-long fireworks display which was awesome. The arena was full, with 110,000 spectators.

Sunday At The Boy Scout Jamboree

On Sunday morning we all went to church. The Catholic mass had 20,000 Scouts there. It took more than 30 minutes to give out communion. There were 40 priests in the arena.

Scouts Like Sgt. Slaughter, Miss America, Cannons

On Wednesday, the jamboree officially opened with a large arena show at 9 a.m.
As Jimmy and I reported, the show was spectacular.

Down here at AP Hill Boy Scout patch traders rule the fort.
Everyone here has patch trading stations set up all over the place. Scouts are mostly trading council strips and OA Flaps.
The Paugassett Lodge flaps from our lodge are hot items.

Massive Opening Show For Scouts

Wednesday was a great day at the 2010 Jamboree here in AP Hill, Virginia.
We had our opening show. After reville at 5:30 a.m. we had a quick breakfast and prepared camp.
We then got in our class A uniforms and began our mile and a half march to the arena for the opening show.

Valley Scouts Arrive In Virginia

Derby’s Charles Stankye III reports that the boys from the Housatonic Council have arrived at A.P. Hill in Caroline County, Va.
The Scouts arrived at the 2010 National Scout Jamboree at about 7:30 a.m.
“They made it through the check-in process and are now setting up their camps,” Stankye said. “They brought along the cool weather as it is only 85 degrees here today. The past week the temperature averaged 100 degrees.”

Boy Scout Jamboree Underway

Eighty Valley Boy Scouts and leaders boarded buses over the weekend to attend the 2010 Boy Scout National Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill in Caroline County, Va.
They represent the Housatonic Council BSA the local, parent organization of the individual troops of the Valley.
The group known as Troop 125 and 126 will be enjoying all types of adventure challenges, be able to complete merit badges and view various area shows.
The troops will be there for 10 days.
Daily updates will be sent to the Valley Independent Sentinel by home news correspondents Jimmy Butler of Troop 125 and Chuck Stankye IV of Troop 126.
Both are Derby residents.
