The City of Derby unveiled a new marketing video earlier this month, as part of city hall’s “Discover Derby” initiative.
“Despite being the smallest municipality in the state, Derby has a lot to offer and Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto wants everyone to know it,” according to an April 14 press release from the mayor’s office.

The city didn’t follow its own procedures before hiring a company to market Derby in an infomercial, and the result was embarrassing.
But the city righted itself by killing the contract, Alderman Art Gerckens said during an Aldermen meeting Thursday.
Gerckens, who represents the Second Ward, was talking about Derby’s contract with “Communities of Distinction,” a Florida-based infomercial company.

Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto announced the city’s agreement with an infomercial company has been terminated and the city has received a full refund.
In September the Board of Aldermen approved an agreement with “Communities of Distinction,” an infomercial series that charges communities $19,800 for a five-minute promotional video.
The agreement OK’d by the Aldermen said legendary quarterback and sports personality Terry Bradshaw was the “Communities of Distinction” host.

A spokesperson for Terry Bradshaw said Wednesday the legendary retired NFL quarterback is not connected to a company producing a nearly $20,000, taxpayer-funded infomercial for the City of Derby.
In fact, Bradshaw’s contract with the company ended May 31 — and the former Pittsburgh Steeler has sent a cease and desist letter ordering his image and name be removed from the company’s website and social media accounts.
“We want people to know that Terry is not connected to that company in any way. I hate to think that communities could be being duped like the City of Derby, thinking that Terry Bradshaw is involved,” said Connie Mason, Bradshaw’s executive assistant.

Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto said Tuesday the city is using taxpayer money to fund a $19,800 infomercial to promote the city and lure potential investors.
The video will be five minutes long and will be part of an infomercial called “Communities of Distinction.”
Just who was footing the bill was a mystery Monday, when the city sent out a press advisory inviting coverage of the production shoot.
“It’s an economic development initiative,” Dugatto said. “I’m trying to market the city. This is what we need to do. We need to really put forth what Derby is all about.”

A company hired to do a promotional video for the City of Derby will be in town Tuesday, Mayor Anita Dugatto announced.
Derby is scheduled to be featured on “Communities of Distinction,” an infomercial hosted by Terry Bradshaw.
Bradshaw, a former pro football player and a current NFL broadcaster on Fox, narrates the show.
Bradshaw himself will not be in Derby Tuesday.
