Veterinarian Advises Oxford Dog Pound Project

Site work has begun on the new addition to the Dog Pound next to Town Hall.

Nanavati, a veterinarian with clinics in Seymour and Oxford, has been chosen as an adviser to the Animal Shelter Building Committee.

More Than $10,000 Awarded To Shelton Students

Shelton High School held its 31st Annual Book and Achievement Awards Program as a school-wide celebration of student achievement on Thursday (May 16) in the school’s gymnasium.

Awards of $100 and under totaling over $10,000, as well as the university and college book awards and certificates of recognition, were presented to 155 students.

Acts Needed For Talent Show To Support Veterans

On Friday, September 20 and Saturday, September 21, the Knights of Columbus Aurora Council #53 in Seymour will be hosting a “Talent Show to Support Veterans” at the Strand Theater to benefit the Friends of Fisher House Connecticut.

This local chapter of the national organization, Fisher House Foundation, is raising funds to construct a house on the property of the VA Hospital in West Haven, which will provide housing to the families of Veterans going into the hospital.

At this time, auditions for the show are being accepted electronically, via e-mail at fhtalentshow@gmail.com.

Mock Crash Gives Derby Students A Jolt Of Realty

With the end of the school year and prom season upon us, every high school in the lower Naugatuck Valley is hosting mock crashes to raise awareness about drunk driving, driving under the influence, distracted driving and the myriad of ways young, inexperienced drivers can wind up dead this time of year.

Protect Your Kids From Lead Poisoning

The Naugatuck Valley Health District has a federally-funded lead-hazard control grant that seeks to prevent childhood lead poisoning by removing lead hazards from older housing.

The health is district is now on its second grant and has completed lead-hazard control work in more than 230 housing units in the Valley. Click this link to read more about the program.

3rd Annual Midsummer Fantasy Renaissance Faire Coming To Ansonia
