Ansonia Woman Faces Child Endangerment Charge

An Ansonia woman was arrested after police said she left her 2-year-old son home alone.

Julie Sherman, 36, faces a charge of risk of injury to a minor in the case. The child had been spotted walking alone, police said.

Drug Charges Lodged In Shelton

Two Shelton men were arrested Friday after police searched their home and allegedly found drugs.

The arrests were the result of a “lengthy narcotics investigation,” according to a prepared statement from Detective Christopher Nugent.

Complaints Prompt Prostitution Arrests In Ansonia

An Ansonia woman and three men have been charged after cops investigated prostitution allegations in two separate cases.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said the first arrests came Saturday (March 17) after police “investigated a suspicious person, possibly threatening case at 23 Beverly Drive.”

Police: Ansonia Man Passed Counterfeit Bills

An Ansonia man is due in court this week after police said he passed 20 counterfeit $100 bills at the CVS on Pershing Drive.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said Richard Nash, 55, was charged with 20 counts of third-degree forgery March 10 after police obtained an arrest warrant in the case.

Shelton Police Charge Firefighter With Arson

Shelton PD Shelton police charged a volunteer firefighter with setting a fire in the back of a pickup truck outside the firehouse last month.

In a prepared statement Friday, Detective Christopher Nugent said 57-year-old William Tortora had been charged with second-degree arson, second-degree reckless endangerment, and second-degree criminal mischief, as well as three counts of conspiracy.

Another arrest is expected, according to police.

Masked burglars assaulted a home health aide while robbing a home on Ansonia’s Hilltop Tuesday afternoon, police said.

In a prepared statement, Ansonia Police Lt. Patrick Lynch said about 2:20 p.m. police received a complaint that two people had entered 4 High Acres Road.
