Teens Charged In Oxford Vandalism Incidents

Police charged two teenagers in a string of vandalism incidents throughout Oxford last month.
An 18-year-old female from Seymour and a 17-year-old person surrendered at the state police Troop A barracks in Southbury Wednesday (April 18) on warrants in several cases.
Police did not specify if the 17-year-old was male or female.

No Injuries After SUV Rolls Into Naugatuck River

Two Seymour women escaped without injury when their SUV drove over an embankment and into the Naugatuck River bed Wednesday afternoon at the senior center parking lot.
The driver, Evelyn Molner, said she was dropping off coupons at the senior center and had pulled her Ford Escape into the parking spot when her foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal.
Molner’s sport utility vehicle then broke through a wooden guardrail and drove down a steep embankment.

Shelton Man Charged With Indecency

Shelton police arrested a Nichols Avenue man after they said an officer found him with his pants down at Riverview Park.
Police were dispatched to the park about 11 a.m., on Howe Avenue, on a report of a suspicious male in a vehicle.
An officer approached the vehicle in question and noticed a man in the driver’s seat with his pants down.

Shelton Man Injures Trooper In Crash

A Shelton man driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 is to blame for a five-car Bridgeport crash that injured a state trooper Thursday, according to police.
State police said troopers Alexander Horjatschun Jr., 39, and Gregory Lebeau, 41, were parked in the left lane on Interstate 95 north protecting the scene of a previous accident in the area of Exit 27 when John Mysliwiec, 63 of Long Hill Avenue, drove up the wrong direction of the northbound Exit 28 off-ramp.

Lawyer Guarantees Acquittal In Cop’s Drug Case

A judge at Superior Court in Derby on Friday transferred a drug possession case against fired Shelton police officer Loren Casertano to Milford, where the ex-cop’s lawyer said the case will end with a “guaranteed acquittal.”
Casertano was arrested by state police last month on charges he had painkiller pills, in addition to vials and syringes containing testosterone, in his police department locker a day before he was fired last May.

Teen Shot In Ansonia Undergoes Surgery

A 17-year-old Ansonia resident underwent surgery after being shot outside the Riverside Apartments on Olson Drive Wednesday.
Marquvios Mullins, of 125 Olson Drive, was shot once in the rib cage — and the bullet hit his spine, police said.
He is in Yale-New Haven Hospital in serious condition, Ansonia police Lt. Andrew Cota said.

Car Damages Building In Shelton

Shelton police know a car crashed into an appliance store early Saturday morning.
But exactly how — and what happened leading up to the crash — is still an open subject.
Two people were sent to the hospital as a result of the accident but were treated and released for minor injuries, according to police.

Shelton Police Make Third Arrest In March Assault

Shelton police said Thursday that a third suspect has been charged in connection with a brutal beating that sent a local man to Bridgeport Hospital in critical condition last month.
The suspect, Jason Terry, 25, of Howe Avenue, was charged with first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. Two other men — Daniel Zeleznik and Andrew O’Connell — face identical charges in the case.

Warrant Details St. Patrick’s Day Assault

The victim of a brutal assault near downtown Shelton the night of St. Patrick’s Day sustained a cut to his head that required seven staples to close, lost all but a handful of his top row of teeth, and will require reconstructive plastic surgery after losing part of his upper lip.

Seymour Police Chase Man After Traffic Stop

Seymour police chased a man on foot Thursday evening after they received a report from police in Ansonia that an assault suspect might be driving through town in a minivan.
The assault was reported earlier Thursday in Ansonia. Few details were not available Friday.
