Serious Crash On Route 8 In Shelton

Two people were seriously injured after a van crossed the median of Route 8 in Shelton and collided head-on with another vehicle Thursday.

The crash closed down the highway’s northbound lanes for hours as police, fire, and EMS responded.

State Police Ask For Help Locating Missing Oxford Man

State Police detectives assigned to Western District Major Crime (WDMC) are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing Oxford man.

State Police detectives issued a Silver Alert for John “Jack” Fairhurst in January 2016 after he was reported missing by family and friends. WDMC detectives and troopers have been investigating and following leads into the whereabouts of Jack Fairhurst, however his whereabouts remain unknown.

Stratford Man Dies In Shelton

A 46-year-old Stratford man died in Shelton Wednesday after he went missing while in the Housatonic River, police said.

Detectives are investigating.

In a prepared statement, Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said police received several 911 calls about 2 p.m. “reporting a male in the water who appeared to be distressed by the Sunnyside Boat Ramp.”

Ansonia Man Charged With Trafficking Pot From California

Federal prosecutors say an Ansonia man and two others schemed to fly thousands of pounds of marijuana to the state over the past three years.

The feds say the plot came to an end last month when 38-year-old Scott “Pep” Bodnar and an alleged accomplice from Milford took delivery of more than 800 pounds of pot in a duffel bag during a sting in Derby.

Update: City Vehicle Stolen In Ansonia, Crashed In Seymour

ethan fry photo A 15-year-old boy stole a city car used by Ansonia’s blight inspector in the north end Wednesday morning and led police on a chase before driving it onto the Metro-North Railroad tracks into Seymour, according to police.

The suspect was captured after he ditched the vehicle once it became inoperable.

Police: Shelton ‘Porch Pirate’ Identified

CONTRIBUTED Shelton police say they’ve identified a woman caught on video swiping a parcel from a resident’s front porch in broad daylight.

The alleged crime occurred Thursday (July 6) afternoon, according to the victim, who reached out to the Valley Indy via Facebook and asked not to be identified.
