by Jodie Mozdzer | Oct 8, 2010 12:01 pm | Comments (1)
The Ansonia Board of Police Commissioners has scheduled a hearing for next week to determine whether officer Mustafa Salahuddin should be disciplined for not returning to work.
Salahuddin has been on leave since he was accused of stealing a garden hose from the department in 2008.
He was found not guilty of the charge at a trial in March, but has not returned to work, citing post traumatic stress disorder as a result of the accusation and trial.

Chief Hale Reacts To Not Guilty Verdict
by Eugene Driscoll | Mar 18, 2010 10:57 am | Comments (1)
Ansonia —When a case goes to a jury — it’s in their hands and it’s their decision.
So said police Chief Kevin Hale Thursday morning, when asked to react to yesterday’s not guilty verdict in the larceny case against Officer Mustafa Salahuddin.
“I wasn’t surprised by it. I’m not an attorney, but if you ask a prosecutor or an attorney, when you get in front of a jury, you just don’t know what’s going to happen,” Hale said.

Salahuddin, Hale Testify At Trial
by Eugene Driscoll | Mar 16, 2010 9:50 pm | Comments (2)
Derby —Two ex-Ansonia police officers testified Tuesday that they thought supervisors at the department had it in for Officer Mustafa Salahuddin.
“I would see his reports get bounced, I would see him get overloaded with calls,” said Tom Swan, an Ansonia police officer from about 2000 to 2005.
“We were both subjected to what I call discrimination,” said John Martin, who now works as a police officer in Seymour.

Derby —Does the video show him stealing the hose or just looking at it?
That was the debate Monday in Superior Court in Derby, where police officer Mustafa “Moose” Salahuddin is on trial on sixth-degree larceny charges. Salahuddin is accused of stealing a newly purchased garden hose. He’s been on administrative leave since his 2008 arrest.
