Suicide Awareness Workshop In Derby Jan. 30

Please join Lorrie McFarland, prevention coordinator of BHcare’s Alliance for Prevention & Wellness, to learn about suicide prevention.

The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Hotchkiss Hose Fire Co., 200 David Humphreys Road (across from the Bradley School).

‘Four Chaplains’ To Be Remembered

American Legion Emil Senger Post 10 and Catholic War Veterans St. Michael Post 1562 are honoring the “Four Chaplains” of the U.S. Army Transport Dorchester, a transport ship that was torpedoed by a German U-boat in 1943.

The four chaplains comforted, inspired and guided the men as the ship sank.

Shelton: No Trash, Recycling Pickup, Park On Odd Side Of Street

There will be no trash or recycling pick up on Wednesday January 17 trash and recycling bins need to be removed from the curb for snow removal pick up scheduled for Wednesday will be picked up on Thursday Thursday and Fridays for Wednesday January 17 beginning at 12:01 AM.

“As long as we stand together as one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, we as a people and as a nation shall prevail,” Goldson said.

American Legion Plans Dinner, Magic Show Fundraiser

Sutter-Terlizzi American Legion Post 16 is hosting a Family Pasta Dinner and Magic Show to benefit The Fisher House at 295 Old Bridgeport Ave. in Shelton.

The dinner will be Friday, January 26 2018. Spaghetti, meatballs, french bread and salad will be served at 6PM, followed by the magic of Brian Lizotte at 7PM. The cost is $15 per person, kids 12 and under $6 and pre-school age children and under are free.

Flood Warning For The Housatonic At Stevenson Dam

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Housatonic River near the Stevenson Dam at 4:49 a.m. Saturday.

At 4 a.m. the river near the dam was at 10 feet.

The flood stage is 11 feet.

Texas Fugitive Caught In Ansonia Waives Extradition

pool photo courtesy ct post A 19-year-old Texas man wanted for the New Year’s Day killing of a romantic rival agreed to waive extradition back to the Lone Star State.

Giuseppe Briguglio was arrested by a team of detectives from Ansonia and Shelton late Thursday after police learned he was hiding out in the basement of a home on Ansonia’s Beverly Drive.
