Get Ready For The Great Give May 1 & 2

“The Great Give,” a 36-hour online fundraiser for nonprofit groups all over the Valley and New Haven, starts at 8 a.m. May 1 and ends 8 p.m. May 2.

Last year’s “Great Give” raised about $1.3 million.

About 300 groups participated, including The Valley Indy.

Letter: More The Merrier On School Regionalization Study

As many of you know, Mayor Cassetti and I, as well as the Ansonia Board of Alderman have been discussing this study, as well as regionalization and shared services for many years. As we continue to see funding from the State decrease, we must be proactive as a municipality and as a region, in protecting ourselves, our children, and our communities. Working together we can study how to achieve greater efficiencies, better quality services, and greater availability of programs in our schools.

Shelton Woman Donates $700 For Griffin Cardiac Rehabilitation Patients

The Valley Indy published a story last week about Derby educators exploring whether the Connecticut National Guard could be stationed in Derby High School in some capacity.

In this very whiny episode of “Navel Gazing: The Valley Indy Podcast,” the reporters respond to a reader who “shamed” the publication on social media for not mentioning a school shooting in Maryland where a young person shot two students before being shot by police.

Valley Indy reporter Ethan Fry live-streamed a portion of Saturday’s “March For Our Lives” in Shelton.

The rally was one of hundreds across the U.S. calling for an end to gun violence. The Shelton rally was organized by Shelton students.

Drug Charges Lodged In Shelton

Two Shelton men were arrested Friday after police searched their home and allegedly found drugs.

The arrests were the result of a “lengthy narcotics investigation,” according to a prepared statement from Detective Christopher Nugent.
