The two candidates on the ballot for Ansonia mayor will debate the issues at Ansonia High School Oct. 26.
The event will be open to the public and is scheduled begin at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.
Mathew Hough, the president of the Ansonia Federation of Teachers, said he will moderate the debate between two-term incumbent Republican David Cassetti and Democratic challenger Tarek Raslan.
Questions will be written and read by members of the high school’s student government and honors society, Hough said.
The event will be the first public debate in Ansonia since 2013, when Cassetti, then a challenger, faced off against incumbent Democrat James Della Volpe in a debate organized by The Valley Indy, the school district, and the campaigns.
The two candidates are also scheduled to debate the issues during a podcast hosted by the Valley Indy scheduled for Oct. 9, and The Valley Indy is organizing another public debate in Derby, scheduled for Oct. 24.
Stay tuned.
