More Charges For Valley Burglary Suspect

The Stratford man accused of committing several burglaries in Seymour and surrounding towns is facing new charges for two burglaries in Shelton — including one where a 14-year-old girl was home during the crime.

Shelton police arrested Douglas Fast, 47, on two warrants Wednesday (Jan. 25) for his alleged role in burglaries on Isinglass Road and Dome Drive in Shelton.

Fast, 47, is currently in prison while his multiple cases work their way through Superior Court in Milford.

Shelton Burglaries

Shelton police, in a press release issued Friday, said Fast is the suspect in a Nov. 23 burglary on Isinglass Road, and a Dec. 5 burglary on Dome Drive.

On Nov. 23, a 14-year-old girl was home when the burglary happened. She hid in her bedroom during the crime, police said.

Police zeroed in on Fast once he was caught in Seymour after a high-speed pursuit on Route 8. Police searched Fast’s Stratford home and allegedly found stolen items from other suspected burglaries.

Those stolen items led Fast to become a suspect in numerous” burglaries in the region.

Shelton police got two arrest warrants to charge Fast for the two burglaries.

For the Isinglass Road burglary, Fast was charged with:

  • Second-degree burglary
  • First-degree larceny
  • Second-degree criminal mischief

For the Dome Drive burglary, Fast was charged with:

  • Third-degree burglary
  • Second-degree larceny
  • Third-degree criminal mischief

Fast is scheduled to appear at Superior Court in Milford on Feb. 23.

Shelton Police Detectives continue to investigate unsolved burglaries and anyone with information should call the Shelton Police at 203 – 924-1544.

Fast was stealing and selling items to fuel his heroin habit, authorities have said.
