Shelton Police Ask For Public’s Help In Hit-And-Run

Shelton police are asking the public for help in identifying the driver of a vehicle that might have been involved in a hit-and-run accident last week.

Cops released a surveillance photo of a black vehicle believed to be present at the time of the accident,” according to a prepared statement from the police department released Friday.

The statement did not say whether police believe the vehicle pictured struck a 49-year-old cyclist from Milford at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Bridge Street about 10 p.m. Friday (Aug. 14).

The vehicle that hit the cyclist fled over the Derby-Shelton bridge after the crash, police said.

The bicyclist, who has not been identified by police, is still in the hospital.

The vehicle that hit the cyclist was headed south on Howe Avenue (toward Stratford), police said.

The Shelton Police Department Traffic Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the owner or operator of the pictured vehicle as it is believed to be present at the time of the accident,”

Police asked anyone with any information to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division at (203) 924‑1544.
