The seven-time Grammy-winning Paul Winter Consort will present a special concert in the Church of the Assumption in Ansonia Sunday, April 12, at 5 p.m.
The Consort of soprano sax, cello, piano, and percussion will also feature gospel singer Theresa Thomason.
The program will encompass music from the Consort’s Grammy-winning albums, and new pieces, interweaving voices from what Winter calls “the greater symphony of the Earth,” including the whale and the wolf.
The Church of the Assumption is a unique, cathedralesque building, constructed in the 19th Century. It has extraordinary acoustics, much prized by the Consort, and an historic pipe organ, which will be played in some pieces by the church’s organist, Anthony Burke.
