UPDATE: At about 1:30 p.m. Thursday (May 12), Shelton police identified the female victim of a Howe Avenue hit-and-run as Teresa Glossy, 54, of Shelton.
“The accident remains under investigation, anyone with any information regarding the accident is requested to contact the Shelton Police Department Traffic Division,” at (203) 924‑1544, police said in an email.

A woman was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Howe Avenue in Shelton Wednesday night.
In a prepared statement, Shelton Police Detective Christopher Nugent said a woman was struck about 8:41 p.m. at the intersection of Howe Avenue and Hill Street. The victim was not identified.
The woman was found unconscious in the road by emergency responders after police received several calls of a pedestrian being struck.
“The female was transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased,” Nugent said.
The Shelton Police Traffic Division Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
Police asked any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the accident to call the Shelton police department’s traffic division at 203 – 924-1544.
Head-On Crash Earlier
The fatal hit-and-run occurred about less three hours after a head-on crash at River Road and Mount Pleasant Street a mile up Route 110.
Nugent said two vehicles collided at the intersection about 5:49 p.m. Wednesday.
“Both sole occupants of the vehicles were transported to Bridgeport Hospital with serious injuries,” Nugent said.
The police department’s accident reconstruction team is also investigating that accident, Nugent said, asking any witnesses to contact police.
“No enforcement action has been taken at this time,” Nugent said.
He said police would release further details about both accidents as the investigations progress.
