Ansonia Harvest Festival Scheduled For Oct. 11

Reminder from the Ansonia Cultural Commission:

The Ansonia Harvest has been rescheduled for this Sat., Oct 11th on Main Street, Ansonia, from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m.

The street will open for vendors by entering on Kingston Drive to Main Street starting at 7:30 a.m. on and must be off the street by 9:30 a.m.

Parking will be available for vendors after they unload.Volunteers will be on hand to direct vendors to their locations and help set up (if needed).

In the event the Festival is cancelled, it will be posted on the City’s website, www.cityofansonia.com by 1 p.m.

We have many art and crafts booths, food vendors, lots of entertainment throughout the day and much more. The commission and city officials hope to SEE YOU ON MAIN STREET!’

Update Oct. 3, 1 p.m.: Due to rain in the forecast for Oct. 4, Ansonia’s Harvest Festival has been postponed to Oct. 11, according to the city’s website.

The City’s 11th Annual Ansonia Harvest Festival will be held on Main Street on Oct. 4 with a rain date of Oct. 11.

The city is anticipating a large crowd for this popular event which features ethnic foods, entertainment on two stages, and a Roaming Railroad” which will travel thru Main Street with a $3 charge per ride.

Irish step dancers from Mulkerin School of Irish dance and Rita Tottenham dance students will perform, with both groups having participated in the festival since its inception. The popular Connecticut Line Dancers featuring Linda Johnston invite you to join in their line dancing routines. All three groups will perform in front of Stage 2.

The Valley Community Foundation will be sponsoring a mobile history of Ansonia’s yesteryear which will be displayed at the Cultural Commission Booth near City Hall. Vendor space numbers will be assigned one week prior to the festival with instructions on how to enter Main Street to their designated spaces.

Joey Milardo and the Musical Cavaliers is new to the festival and will be performing on upper Main Street from noon until 2 p.m. and the community is invited to dance to their tunes right on Main Street.

Also new to the festival is Bob’s Fault Band featuring Bill Davis from Ansonia. They will perform on Stage 1 along with Mark Lanzieri and his band, a local favorite.

Brian Lizotte, a valley magician will be making balloon sculptures and doing fantastic tricks for young and old alike.

Patty Fadden Rimkunis will perform The National Anthem” and Jim Little, vice chairman of the Cultural Commission will sing, Lift Every Voice and Sing.” Other performing bands are the Sofa King, featuring Bill Gibson of Ansonia, The Kate Miz. Band and the Bantam Band, strolling musicians.

Two groups, Vision and the Anointed Tabernacle Choir will be singing Christian Music on Stage 1 around 11:45 a.m. The DJs for the event are Tony Castle and Phyllis Kaplan.

There will be a pumpkin coloring contest held at Veteran’s Park, next to City Hall and all school children are invited to color pumpkins from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. and will be assisted by the Unified Arts staff.

A scarecrow contest will be held among the merchants and vendors and both contests will be judged by Rich DeCarlo of the Valley Arts Council.

Amusements rides will be located in the River Valley Baptist Church parking lot and a car show, sponsored by Jay’s Auto Body will take place along Bridge Street. Trophies will be awarded. A Moon Walk” donated by Team, Inc. will be available on upper Main Street and is free of charge.

The Commission is proud to announce theat the Valley Community Foundation is a proud sponsor of the festival, along with the Regional Water Authority and the Smith Building Association.
