Several wreaths were laid at the base of the Memorial by area VFW representatives for the select circle of more than 300 neighborhood Ansonia individuals who served or gave the ultimate sacrifice to their country during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

The Ansonia High School band and chorus provided musical interludes throughout the ceremony. An inspirational 21-gun salute was sounded, with prayer and moment of silence. A moving rendition of Taps performed live concluded the ceremony.
