Ansonia Man Gets Five Years For Gun, Drugs

An Ansonia man who barricaded himself in a bathroom during a raid last year has been sentenced to five years in federal prison.

In a prepared statement, federal prosecutors said the man, 26-year-old Marcos Boyd, was wanted for absconding from parole in a drug dealing case when law enforcement found him last November.

On November 10, 2015, when members of the U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force, Ansonia Police and Connecticut Department of Correction parole officers encountered Boyd at a residence on High Street in Ansonia, Boyd climbed out of his second floor bedroom holding a firearm,” U.S. Attorney Deirdre Daly said. He then returned inside the house and barricaded himself in a bathroom.”

At the time, a 6‑year-old child was also in the house, according to the feds.

Boyd eventually surrendered, after which officers seized a loaded pistol from him.

In his bedroom they found 18.6 grams of heroin, drug packaging materials, and $6,763 in cash.

Boyd pleaded guilty in September to one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

On Monday U.S. District Judge Alvin W. Thompson sentenced him to 60 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.

But the sentence won’t officially begin until he finishes serving the sentence for which he had been paroled — a 2012 state conviction for selling drugs.

The sentence in that case is due to run until next April, according to correction department records.
