Ansonia Seeks Participants For Memorial Day Parade

The 108th Ansonia Memorial Day Parade will be held Sunday, May 25 at 2 p.m.

The parade starts at Nolan Field and proceeds along Wakelee Avenue, down Jackson Street, passing in review at City Hall and proceeding to Big Y Shopping Plaza on Main Street.

The parade is in honor of all veterans and a brief ceremony will be held at the front of City Hall to honor the veterans. The theme of this years’ parade is Ansonia’s Tribute To Those Who Served and Who are Now Serving Around the World.”

The parade will feature five divisions, each led by an Ansonia fire company. This year’s Honor Fire Company will be the Charters Hose Company.

The parade will have many musical units including the Ansonia High School Band, The Connecticut Hurricanes Corps, New Haven Gaelic Pipe Band, Washington Park Fife and Drum Corps, Naugatuck High School Band and others, plus floats.

There will be shuttle bus service starting at noon from the parking lot at Ion Bank in the Big Y mall. A special thank you to the Big Y Shopping Plaza for all their help and cooperation.

Veteran Groups, civic and sports groups, school children, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, fraternal organizations and church groups interested in being in the parade are asked to contact Julia Maher at 203 – 735-5106.
