Ansonia Student Collecting Food Donations At Halloween Display

Last year Ansonia resident Ricky Baxter erected a scary Halloween display in front of his Ford Street home — with a twist.

He asked that trick-or-treaters donate an item of non-perishable food for the Spooner House.

Nearly 100 of them did, so Baxter revamped the display and is hoping even more donations can come in this year.

I want to do as many years as I can, and just get bigger and bigger every year,” Baxter, 17, a senior at Platt Technical High School in Milford, said.

CONTRIBUTEDHe said he improved upon his Eerie Manor” cemetery theme this year with the addition of more art and animation.

Most of last year’s donations came in the night of Halloween, but Baxter said visitors can drop off items any time throughout the month.

Just look for the black coffin at the front of the display and drop your donation off in it.
