An Ansonia woman who collided with a city fire truck in December has notified the city she intends to file a lawsuit.

Susan Boroski suffered broken bones, bruises and cuts after the crash on Dec. 15, her lawyer Gregory O’Brien wrote in a notice to the city.

Boroski collided with an Ansonia fire truck at the intersection of Kingston Drive and Main Street as firefighters were responding to a call.

Police determined Boroski was at fault for the accident.

Witnesses told police Boroski ran the red light at Kingston Drive and drove into the path of the fire truck, according to an accident report released by Ansonia Police Friday.

Article continues after accident report.

Fire Truck Accident Report

The fire truck, driven by volunteer firefighter Scott C. Foster, had its lights and sirens on as it approached the intersection of Main and Kingston, the accident report states.

The truck was heading south on Main Street to respond to an alarm at 435 East Main St., the fire chief said after the accident.

Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free Boroski from the wreckage.

She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital with “non-life threatening” injuries.

Foster was not injured.

Boroski told police the light was yellow and that she saw the truck coming but it was too late to stop, according to the accident report.

Three witnesses said they saw Boroski run a red light into the fire truck’s path.

Police gave Boroski a ticket for failure to obey traffic signal.

Boroski’s lawyer, O’Brien, did not return calls for comment.

A message was left seeking comment with Mayor James Della Volpe.

Ok, first of all 3 witnesses saw her run the red. Second, yellow (since she claims it was yellow) means CAUTION NOT SPEED UP!  Third, if you KNEW it was coming, WHY try to beat a firetruck responding to a call???  People who do not grant the right of way to emergency vehicles irritate me to NO END!!!  They are just the type of people who would be complaining if they were the ones waiting for them wondering what’s taking so long…people who don’t get out of the way is what’s taking so long!  Ok, rant over!

She was speeding, blew a red light, and failed to yield to an emergency vehicle. 3 strikes and your out lady. And then caused an accident requiring the fire department to not only take a truck out of service and response to the original call but now requires another truck to respond to assist her and a third to respond to the original call. Way to thin out resources. AND then she tries to sue??  Moron and brain donor come to mind.
