Ansonia WPCA Reduces Sewer Fees

FILEAt a meeting of the Water Pollution Control Authority (WPCA), the Board voted to reduce the sewer use rate by 7.5 percent, thereby lowering fees for thousands of Ansonia residents.

The fee reduction was primarily attributable to cost saving methods and increased collections.

WPCA reduced fees by 6.5 percent in FY2014-2015, 7 percent in 2015 – 2016 and 7.5 percent in 2015 – 2016.

I would like to applaud the WPCA and Chairman Nunzio Parente for their success in lowering fees for our residents for a third year in a row.” Mayor David Cassetti said. I firmly believe that tax and fee reductions play a critical role in attracting and retaining businesses in Ansonia. Ansonia’s taxpayers deserve relief and I am very pleased that we are all working together to make things easier on the residents.”

WPCA is continuing to work with the City on cost savings methods. Just recently the City of Ansonia’s Tax Office and the office of WPCA worked cooperatively on a Request for Proposals to sell delinquent tax and sewer liens. The revenue generated from that sale will also help to relieve taxpayer burden going forward.

The WPCA fee reduction comes on the heels of a third consecutive tax mill decrease achieved by Mayor Cassetti and the Ansonia Board of Aldermen earlier this year.
