Board Of Directors At Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Training School Thanks Rep. Conroy

The Board of Directors of the Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Fire Training School would like to thank Representative Theresa Conroy of the 105th Assembly District in the General Assembly for her continued and tireless support of the fire service not only in the Naugatuck Valley; but in the entire State of Connecticut.

Representative Conroy has a proven track record of supporting and voting for legislation related to the fire service. Representative Conroy has supported numerous fire service legislation both in committee and on the House floor since 2009. She has backed and voted for such bills as Limiting the Indemnification of Fire Service Instructors, Creating Fire Station Work Zones, and Volunteer Fire Departments and Ambulance Companies and the Connecticut Occupational Safety & Health Act.

Representative Conroy has worked tirelessly in assisting the Valley Fire School obtain land and for bonding for the construction of a new Fire Training School in Beacon Falls for the Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Fire Training School.

Representative Conroy always supports any legislation that has to deal with the safety and well being of firefighters. This was evident this year; when she voted for and lobbied for the Establishment of a Firefighter Cancer Relief Program that was signed into law by Governor Malloy. This important law supports those firefighters and their families when they contract certain types of cancer from battling fires.

This past session, Representative Conroy cosigned HB 5518 which would have authorized an alternate source of funding for firefighting training and operational costs of the regional fire schools throughout the State of Connecticut; including the Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Training School. This was at no additional tax burden to the tax payers of Connecticut. This bill would have made monies available to absorb the cost of firefighting training for all firefighters in the State as well as fund the operational costs of the regional fire schools; which included the Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Fire Training School . Although this bill did not get called this year; Representative Conroy was a supporter and cosponsor of this bill.

The Board of Directors of the Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Fire Training School would like to thank you for your support throughout your terms of office and hope that you will continue to support our efforts to protect the lives and property of the people of the State of Connecticut. We wish you the best of luck in this election season.

Sincerely,
The Board of Directors
Valley Fire Chief’s Regional Fire Training School
