Bomb Threat At Ansonia Target

Sunday shopping was interrupted at Target on West Main Street in Ansonia after someone called in a bomb threat.

Ansonia emergency personnel were sent to the store at about 12:42 p.m. after Target employees contacted them about the threat.

Shoppers were told to leave the store.

The caller claimed that explosive devices had been placed around Target’s perimeter, Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said.

Emergency personnel arrived and checked the area with nothing being found. Investigation will continue to attempt to identify the caller,” Cota said.

The store was open again after the search.

In the last few days, bomb threats have been placed against Target stores in Kansas, Jersey City, N.J. and upstate New York.

Readers on the Valley Indy Facebook page Sunday said Target employees also told them a skunk was in the store. However, a Target employee said the workers weren’t authorized to talk about the bomb threat as it was happening, so an employee may have used the skunk excuse in an effort to get customers quickly out of the building.
