The Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley will honor Michael P. Healey and William C. Bassett as the 2011 Raymond P. Lavietes Award winners at its 24th annual Service to Youth dinner on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at John J. Sullivan’s.

Bill Bassett is the Chairman of the W.E. Bassett Company, a family owned business since 1939, located in Shelton, which packages and markets personal care and manicure products under the Trim label.

Service to Youth Dinner Chairman Arlene Clancy said, “Bill, and the entire Bassett organization, has always been there for the people, non profits, and the Boys & Girls Club. The Bassett family has been very generous and instrumental in the construction of the two Boys & Girls Clubs now serving the Valley.”

Bill is the Chairman of the Birmingham Group and a founding member of the Valley Community Foundation. He is a recipient of the Gold Seal Award from the Valley Chamber, the Charles H. Flynn Award from the Valley United Way, and has received the Good Scout Award from the Housatonic Council of Boy Scouts, to name just a few.

Michael P. Healey of Stevens Ford and former owner of Healey Ford of Ansonia is the second recipient. Mike is the former President of the Board of Directors of our Boys & Girls Club. He was the driving force behind the building of the new Joel E. Smilow Clubhouse in Ansonia and the establishment of the new Boys & Girls Club in Milford.

Boys & Girls Club President Susan Deleon said, “Mike’s legacy will be helping thousands of children in Ansonia and Milford for generations to come. Without Mike there never would have been a new club in Milford.”

Mike is also a recipient of the Gold Seal Award. He was named the Time Magazine Car Dealer of the Year and was named the Trumbull YMCA Volunteer of the Year.

Along with more than $14,000 in scholarships, the Boys & Girls Club will also present its 2011 Champion of Youth award to the Human Resource Consulting Group of Seymour.

Boys & Girls Club LNV Executive Director Jack Ribas said, “They came to our aid in our most dire time. We were in the middle of cutbacks and layoffs, and Robin Imbrogno, the president, contacted me to volunteer the services of their entire company. They took over our payroll management and helped design an entire grant reporting system to save us time, money, and help with personnel management. They are truly an outstanding group of people!”

Further information about tickets or reservations can be obtained by calling Ann at the Boys & Girls Club, 203-924-7462, AnnWheeler@BGC-LNV.org.
