CABE Honors Derby School Board For Communication Efforts

The Connecticut Association of Boards of Education for exhibiting excellence in educational communication has recognized the Derby Board of Education and Superintendent Dr. Conway.

In 1975, CABE established the Awards of Excellence in Educational Communication to recognize the good work done on a daily basis.

Effective communications with parents and taxpayers in a school district is a very significant part of the district’s operation.

It is important for the community to be aware of the exciting activities and events taking place in our school each day.

Our Board has won awards in two submissions in the Excellence for Educational Communication.

The first is for our social media submission showing that we utilize our website, YouTube account, Facebook and 27 Twitter handles to communicate District information, to promote and broadcast events to families and the community.

The second is the submission of our Derby Middle School Parent/Student Handbook. The handbook is developed annually and informs parents and students about student rights, responsibilities, due process and policies.

The Board of Education was also awarded Honorable Mention in three categories: Irving School’s Weekly Videotaping and Broadcast; Derby High School Seniors video of Walk Down Memory Lane and for our Derby Public Schools website – https://www.derbyps.org.

All of these submissions will be on display for viewing during the CABE/CAPSS Convention on November 17, 2017.
