Walnut Hill Community Church is sponsoring its 1st Annual 5k Run-Walk, which will benefit BHCare’s Center for Domestic Violence Services (CDVS) and give new hope and new life to those affected by domestic violence.
The Easter Run-Walk will take place on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Derby Greenway in O’Sullivan Island (I Caroline Street, Derby). To register, or for more information, visit www.walnuthillcc.org/derby or www.easterrunwalk.com.
All proceeds benefit the Center’s domestic violence programs and services. Last year, CDVS provided free emergency safe shelter, 24-hour crisis, counseling, advocacy, support and other crucial services to over 9,000 battered women and their children. All services offered are free of charge and confidential. Services support 170 different languages 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“Walnut Hill seeks to be an active member of the community, so we thought having a fun day for runners and families was a great way to raise money for a good cause,” said Walt Mayhew, Pastor of Walnut Hill’s Derby Campus. “We want to make the Valley a better place to live, work and play. We’ve had some people in our congregation who have been served by BHcare, so we already have a passion for that agency within our congregation.”
Check in on race day begins at 8:00 a.m. The Fun Run begins at 8:40, while the 5k Run-Walk starts at 9:00 a.m. Runners can expect awards presented by age group and
post-race refreshments.
This event is co-sponsored by Noah’s Ark Early Learning Center, 29 9th Street, Derby.
