According to Derby Police Lt. Justin Stanko, police issued:

  • 201 distracted driving infractions
  • Made one drug arrest
  • Issued six motor vehicle summonses (for things like not having insurance, driving an unregistered car or driving with a suspended license)

Department all over the state participated in this month’s campaign.

According to surveys conducted during last year’s crackdown, there was an eight percent drop in mobile phone use by drivers at observation locations throughout municipalities where police conducted enforcement.

The drop in observed use is encouraging to law enforcement agencies, and demonstrates the need to reinforce the idea of mobile phone use while driving is both dangerous and illegal,” according to a previous statement from police.
