Derby Man Seriously Injured In Ansonia Crash

A Derby man was hospitalized with serious injuries after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle in Ansonia Friday, according to police.

The motorcyclist was not identified.

In an email, Ansonia Police Lt. Andrew Cota said the accident occurred about 10 p.m. at the intersection of Wakelee Avenue and Division Street.

A man was riding his motorcycle north on Seymour Avenue into the intersection, Cota said, when he collided with a vehicle traveling east on Division Street.

The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was brought Yale New Haven Hospital,” Cota said. Injuries were considered severe.”

Though police did not name the motorcyclist, Cota described him as a 27-year-old Derby resident.

The driver of the vehicle the motorcyclist collided with is a 45-year-old man from Ansonia.

The case is still under investigation and no enforcement has been taken as of yet,” Cota said.
