Police are trying to determine who shot two people with an Airsoft-like weapon Friday.
Airsoft are the modern BB guns. They fire plastic BBs.
According to Derby police Lt. Salvatore Frosceno, a 34-year-old man was shot in the head while sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle parked on Anson Street at about 4 p.m. Friday.
The plastic BB lodged in the man’s temple. Emergency responders took him to Yale-New Haven Hospital. Police did not have information on his condition, other than that he was conscious and alert when he was loaded into an ambulance.
While patrol officers and detectives interviewed people on Anson and Sixth streets Friday, a second man came forward and said he had been struck by a plastic BB.
The 33-year-old man said he was walking on Anson Street when he was shot in the arm. He was not seriously injured.
Police received description of a person thought to be responsible for the shootings, but police have not “positively identified an individual of being in possession” of the weapon, Frosceno said.
It wasn’t clear whether the shooter targeted the two men or it the person was just firing randomly toward the street.
The investigation continues.
