Derby Police Looking For Explanation Of Library Video

A screen shot from the video.

Derby police are asking the public for help to figure out why a man chased another man through the Derby Public Library last month.

The police department posted the strange video to its Facebook page Monday. Click play to watch the video, which generated more than 8,000 views in less than 24 hours.

It shows a man running into Derby Public Library, looking like he was nervous and needed a place to hide, according to police.

The video then shows a man following quickly on the first man’s heels, apparently in the hunt for person no. 1.

At the least, the two men could possibly face breach of peace charges for creating a disturbance in the library, which is on Elizabeth Street across from two schools.

But Derby police are more interested in learning the underlying motivation — why was the man being chased, what made him so nervous, and what was the intent of the man giving chase?

The chaser, by the way, got into a car that was waiting for him, police said.

Anyone with information should call police at 203 – 735-7811.
