Firefighter Injured After Derby House Fire

One firefighter was rushed to the hospital during a fire on Caroline Street in Derby Sunday.

In a Facebook post, the Derby FD said the firefighter was transported to the emergency room for a medical issue.”

The firefighter was treated and released from the hospital, an official told the Valley Indy Monday.

Firefighters and EMS were sent to 207 Caroline St. at 2:20 p.m. Sunday for a kitchen fire, according to the Facebook post.

They were greeted by heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a multi-family house. The fire traveled from the kitchen and into the attic.

The people inside were able to get out.

The dwelling suffered heavy damage to the second and third floors,” according to the statement on Facebook.

Shelton and Ansonia Fire Departments assisted.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Derby Fire Marshal’s office.
