Food Trucks Coming To Shelton Sept. 15

CONTRIBUTEDCelebrate Shelton is proud to present the 3rd Annual Food Trucks in the Valley taking place on Thursday, September 15th at 4 p.m. at the Shelton River Walk. 

Who: Celebrate Shelton presents Food Trucks in the Valley 
What: Food Trucks in the Valley” grows each year to include 25+ food trucks, live music, craft beer, a car show, kids activities with handmade artisans. This event is FREE to attend and family-friendly.
Where: Shelton River Walk, Shelton
When: Thursday, September 15th at 4:00pm

Proceeds from the event will support hunger relief, local arts programs and children’s mental health. In honor of Hunger Action Month, non-perishables will be collected for the Spooner House.

For the first time ever, Food Trucks in the Valley” will be presenting a Mystery Box Demo, using ingredients from different food trucks attending this year’s event. Chefs will be unaware of their ingredients until they open the box, then have 30 minutes to put a dish together. There will be three consecutive demos, with three different chefs, using three different boxes of ingredients. 

Chef Profiles

Chef Jason Maur (Monroe) – Chef Jason Maur of MaurPowerFoodie competed on Fox’s MasterChef, Food Network’s Cooks vs. Cons, the CT Chefs Challenge, and Celebrity Chef Guest Competitor at this year’s First Annual Submarine Sandwich Throwdown, in honor of the Centennial of New London’s Navy Base.

Chef Carol Koty (Stratford) – Chef Carol Koty is a Sous Chef at The Waterview in Monroe, CT. A seasoned culinary competitor, Chef Carol Koty has been featured on Food Network’s Guy’s Grocery Games and participated in the 2013 and 2014 World Food Championships, where her signature Korean Bulgogi Burger ranked 18th Best Burger in the World. Chef Carol Koty also recently competed in the 5th Annual Connecticut Chef’s Challenge, where she earned the People’s Choice Award. She also is a Celebrity Chef competitor at the First Annual Submarine Sandwich Throwdown for the New London Historical Society.

Chef Mark Vecchitto (Mystic) – Mark Vecchitto is the Executive Chef at The Captain Daniel Packer Inne in Mystic, CT. Owner of Blue Shallot Gourmet, 2014 winner of Connecticut Chefs Challenge, appeared on the Food Network, Beat Bobby Flay and Guys Grocery Games, host of New London Sub Throw Down.
