Former Nail Salon Owner Charged With Tapping Gas Line

A 38-year-old former nail salon owner from Queens was arrested June 30 after police said he hooked into a natural gas line without authorization.

Tsen Bin Si is charged with reckless endangerment, third-degree damage to a landlord’s property, risk of injury to a minor — and 10 violations of the state fire code.

In a prepared statement police said Si had purchased the supplies needed for the illegal gas hookup when he owned Ya Ya Nail Salon at 194 Leavenworth Road.

Cops didn’t know about the hookup until he sold the place and a new owner took over, police said. The current owner had no clue of the illegal gas tap, cops said.

On April 9 emergency officials were sent to the address to investigate a gas leak.

Authorities discovered several” leaks, according to a prepared statement from police.

Investigators eventually found the illegal hookup in the basement.

The risk of injury to a minor charge was lodged because the nail salon is within a strip mall.

Neighbors include a daycare and an art school for kids.

Court info was not available.
