On Saturday May 20, 2017 in honor of Armed Forces Day, the Seymour Culture and Arts Commission will present the Naugatuck Community Band under the direction of Joel Knecht. The band will perform a patriotic concert titled “An American Salute.”

The program will feature patriotic favorites and musical pieces that pay tribute to the American spirit.

Some of the highlights of the program are the famous marches “National Emblem” and the “Stars and Stripes Forever”, “El Capitan,:” “Gettysburg” to commemorate the Civil War, “ American Elegy“ To Heal a Nation”, and “Western Sketches” composed by director Joel Knecht. American Legion Post 10 will also open the concert with a color guard ceremony.

The concert will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be located at the Seymour Middle School at 211 Mountain Rd., Seymour Connecticut.

The concert is free to the public, but we are asking for those attending to bring items to donate to our local VA hospital, such as toiletries, personal hygiene items, deodorants, soaps, toothbrushes, socks and t-shirts.
