Fundraiser Oct. 26 In Derby To Benefit The Muoio Family

There is an event scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26 to raise money for a family whose baby boy is recovering from recent brain surgery.

The event is to benefit the Muoio family (Sarah and Rob) of Derby.

In September — on his five-month birthday to be exact — little Anthony Michael Muoio was admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital so doctors could remove a brain tumor.

Anthony had been ill for about five days when he was diagnosed.

Anthony’s surgery was eight hours long, and he spent 10 days recovering in the pediatric intensive care unit at Yale-New Haven.

Thankfully, the tumor was benign.

Derby residents have organized a fundraiser for the family to help with medical costs.

His mom, Sarah, is the director of the Derby Senior Center. She just returned to work, and has been writing about her baby’s journey on this website.

He’s a little senior center mascot,” his mom said in an email.

The fundraising event is scheduled for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Adriatic Marchegian Club, 30 Hawthorne Ave. in Derby.

A $30 donation is requested. There is no charge for kids under 12.

There will be a family style dinner and a 50/50 raffle.

For tickets, call Nancy Pereiras at 203 – 305-3408.
