Greene Withdraws, Readers React

On Aug. 28, the Valley Indy received the following message from Len Greene, Jr., in which he announces he is pulling out of the 105th District race.

Republicans leaders, as of Sept. 2, had not decided whether to run a candidate to replace Greene and run against state Rep. Theresa Conroy, the Democratic incumbent from Seymour.

Serving the citizens of the 105th District from 2011 through 2013 was a great honor and privilege.

It was my sincere hope and desire to regain this seat in the upcoming November election as I see the Legislature in dire need of representatives willing to exercise fiscal prudence, responsible governance, and return jobs to our state.

So, it is with mixed emotions that I must withdraw my candidacy. As father and husband, I have responsibilities closer to home. While serving in the Legislature is indeed honorable, it does not readily provide the financial means to support and care for a young family.

In order to fulfill this role, I have accepted a position in the private sector which will require my full efforts.

Regrettably, this will not allow me to devote the time and attention to campaign and ultimately serve the citizens of Seymour, Beacon Falls, and Derby.

I thank each and everyone who has supported me throughout the years, especially my wife Tory, my daughter Jillian, my parents, and my family.

I have always been blessed with incredible campaign teams and supporters, without which I could not have accomplished what we were able to accomplish.”

With sincere gratitude,

Len Greene Jr. for State Representative
