Derby police are looking for people who may have witnessed an assault on Hawkins Street Monday night (Jan. 9).

Officers responded to a report of a fight at 8:24 p.m., according to police spokesman Lt. Sal Frosceno.

All parties involved — including the victim — had left the scene.

Police discovered the victim drove himself to nearby Griffin Hospital. Officers interviewed him there.

The man said he was attacked by about eight black males as he got out of his car on Hawkins.

“Police continue to follow up with witnesses and the victim in hopes of identifying the assailants,” Frosceno said.

Anyone with information on the incident should call Derby police at 203 735 7811, ext. 321.

Callers may remain anonymous.
