Guns, Drugs Found During Ansonia Raids

Ansonia police said they found drugs, guns, and cash during raids of two west side addresses in connection to drug investigations last week.

Two local men were charged as a result of the searches.

In a prepared statement issued Monday (April 7), Lt. Andrew Cota said the department’s anti-crime unit and other Ansonia cops executed search and seizure warrants at 114 Olson Drive April 2 and 289 Wakelee Ave. April 3.

Wakelee Avenue

Cops served a search warrant at 289 Wakelee Ave. about 2 p.m. April 3 in connection to an investigation by the department’s anti-crime unit.

Cota’s statement said that at the residence, police found:

  • 15.6 grams of cocaine
  • 18.2 grams of marijuana
  • $808 in cash

* a .380 caliber handgun, a .25 caliber long rifle, a .22 caliber handgun, and a stun gun

  • various packaging and weighing materials” police say were being used for drug sales.

As a result of the search, a resident of the Wakelee Avenue address, Joseph Jisonna, 43, was arrested.

Jisonna faces charges of possession of narcotics, sale of narcotics, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and four counts of criminal possession of a firearm, ammunition, or electronic defense weapon.

Cops say Jisonna faces the gun charges because he is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing firearms or stun guns.

He was held on a $100,000 bond, police said.

Olson Drive

The night before, police raided 114 Olson Drive about 8:40 p.m. April 2 after they were able to obtain a search warrant after a lengthy investigation,” Cota’s statement said.

The search yielded numerous narcotic related items,” the statement said.

As a result of the search, Dontae Reese, 24, of High Street, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of marijuana with intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia, and risk of injury to a minor.

Reese was also held on three arrest warrants police had obtained charging him with three counts each of possession of a hallucinogenic and sale of a hallucinogenic.

Reese was being held in lieu of $100,000 bond in the cases, police said.
