Wesley Village is proud to host the 6th annual Wesley Village 5K Halloween 5K and Fun Walk on Saturday, Oct. 25.
More than 400 runners and walkers are expected to attend this year’s event! The Wesley Village Halloween 5K and Fun Walk takes place at the Wesley Village Campus, 580 Long Hill Ave. in Shelton.
The event features a 5K run, 1‑mile fun walk and half-mile Kids Fun Run. This year’s 5K course is a new, flatter, out and back course.
Traffic Info
The runners will be using the northbound lane of Long Hill Avenue. The northbound lane of Long Hill Avenue from Asbury Ridge Road to Donovan Lane will be closed to all traffic from approximately 9 to 10:30 a.m.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes during that time period. The southbound lane of Long Hill Avenue will remain open and traffic will be allowed to travel only southbound during the race.
Race Details
Runners aged 70+ run for free, though pre-registration is required. To date this year’s oldest race participant is Wesley Village resident Cecile Knebel, who is 98 years young.

The race is not only appealing for an older generation; the entire family is encouraged to come out for a morning of Halloween fun! At the post race party there will be entertainment, a brunch with famous egg sandwiches, smoothies, fruit granola bars, bagels and more!
Children’s activities include a bounce house, face painting, a clown and the opportunity to trick or treat! Costumes are encouraged for all participants! The first 400 5k entrants receive a free tech shirt. Cotton t-shirts will be given to all other event participants.
Race proceeds benefit the award winning activity program at Wesley Village. The Wesley Village campus provides independent living, assisted living, rehab services and skilled nursing care. We are proud to partner with our neighbors across the street, Long Hill Elementary School and support their efforts to raise funds for their PTA.
The title sponsor for this year’s race is the C.E. Floyd Company. The Fun Walk is sponsored by M&T Bank. The Kids Fun Run is sponsored by Merit Insurance.
