Lawyer Reviewing Records In Case Of Alleged Dog Thrower

A judge on Wednesday continued the case of a Bridgeport man accused of trying to throw his dog off a Derby bridge in July.

Alexander Rosario, accused of a single misdemeanor count of cruelty to an animal, will return to Superior Court in Derby Oct. 24.

The case was continued so his public defender can review psychiatric and medical records.

Derby police arrested Rosario July 20 after receiving several calls reporting that Rosario was beating his Jack Russell terrier on the Hawkins Street bridge above Route 8.

When police arrived, the dog was dangling from a fence on the bridge.
