A 27-year-old man was shot several times in Ansonia Tuesday night.
The shooting occurred about 8:38 p.m. in the area of Union and State streets near the YMCA, Lt. Patrick Lynch said.
“When officers arrived on scene they found evidence of shots fired and the police department was subsequently notified there was a gunshot victim at Griffin Hospital,” Lynch said.
Lynch did not identify the victim. He said the man was shot several times in the torso.
A private car took the victim to the hospital. He was then transferred to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further treatment.
His condition was unknown late Tuesday, Lynch said.
Detectives were processing evidence at the scene and looking for witnesses, Lynch said.
