Many Seymour Residents Didn’t Have Electricity For About An Hour Tuesday Afternoon

About 24 percent of Connecticut Light & Power customers in Seymour were without power for roughly an hour Tuesday afternoon.

The outage was caused by a high voltage wire that became dislodged from its connection” on New Haven Road according to the Seymour Police Department’s Twitter page.

That’s about 2,776 customers, according to Mitch Gross, a spokesman for the utility company.

The power went out for many at roughly 12 p.m.

The dislodged” high voltage wire was actually the second outage of the day, Gross said.

We also had 300 customers without power this morning between 9:45 and 11 a.m. in the vicinity of Maple Street in Seymour for planned upgrade work,” he said.

In addition to the Tweets published by the police department, the town used Facebook to keep residents in the loop during the brief outage.
