Masked Suspect Robs Another Store In Ansonia

Ansonia police are investigating an armed robbery that happened about 6:15 p.m. on Hill Street Jan. 24.

Police said a man wearing a mask or bandana obscuring his face from the eyes down walked into the Hill Street Market (also known as the GQ Food Market) at 3 Hill St., pointed a handgun at the store’s clerk, took about $600 in cash from the register, and fled.

No one was hurt, police said.

Police described the suspect as a white male dressed in jeans and a dark colored sweatshirt or jacket.

Cops asked anyone with information to call the police department at 203 – 735-1885 and ask for Detective Frolish.

Saturday’s robbery happened three days after a man with a gun robbed Ansonia Smoke and Convenience, at 262 Main St. 

The two stores are a half-mile from each other.

The Main Street robbery happened at about 6 p.m. across from Ansonia City Hall.

The suspect in that robbery was also described as wearing a mask covering half his face.

The robber got $500 from the store. No one was hurt.

Ansonia police sent out an advisory Thursday (Jan. 29) morning telling business owners not to resist if encountered by a robber.

Also, be aware of your surroundings. If you see any suspicious activity and/or vehicles in your area, then report it immediately to the police department,” police said. We also encourage you to check and update your video surveillance equipment.”
