New Haven Man Charged With Robbing Shelton Cumby’s

Shelton police Wednesday morning announced the arrest of a New Haven man in connection to the June robbery of the Cumberland Farms at 819 River Road.

Wayne Bunting, 22, is charged with first-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was arrested Tuesday, according to a prepared statement from police.

Bunting is accused of robbing the store at about 2 a.m.

An employee told police a man wearing a black hoodie and a ski mask walked into the store, showed a gun, and demanded money. Police did not say how much money Bunting allegedly stole.

Bunting faces similar charges in West Haven.
