The scene Thursday night.

A fire damaged a home on Seymour’s Tomlinson Road Thursday.

There were no injuries.

Firefighters were sent to 23 Tomlinson Road at about 6:30 p.m. on a report of a fire on the second floor of the raised ranch.

We encountered heavy fire coming out of the second floor window,” Seymour Fire Department Chief Michael Lombardi said.

Because the area doesn’t have fire hydrants, Oxford firefighters responded with water tankers in addition to firefighters from both of Seymour’s volunteer fire companies.

The people who were in the home at the time were able to get out by the time firefighters arrived, Lombardi said. They were making arrangements to stay with friends for the night. The chief did not how many people were in the house when the fire started.

The fire caused extensive damage to the home’s living room but didn’t spread farther, Lombardi said.

The guys made a great stop and held it to that one room,” he said.

A later post on the Citizen’s Engine Facebook page indicated the fire damaged two rooms.

Firefighters talk to people who are connected to the property. It was unclear whether they were the residents.

The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
