Oxford-Seymour Rotary To Hold Amber Alert Registration

Every minute counts in the safe recovery of a missing or abducted child! The state police can immediately access a missing child’s information when registered with Amber Alert.

To bring this vital service to families in our community, the Seymour-Oxford Rotary Club has teamed-up with the Connecticut Sate Police AMBER Alert Center at the Department of Public Safety to conduct an Amber Alert registration on Saturday, August 4, 2012, in conjunction with Seymour’s First Saturday event.

Ideal Image, 56 Wakeley St. Ext. is sponsoring the booth from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. in their Salon (next to Barone’s and Seymour Jewelry and Pawn).

Rotary AMBER Kids ID brings the latest technology to the AMBER Alert Program.

With this new, data-secure system the child’s colored digital picture is imbedded on a wallet sized plastic card along with minimal, yet essential, information needed to find a child in the event a child goes missing. In addition to the card, strongly encrypted computer data, which is not connected to the Internet or any other system, can be accessed by the state police, immediately upon the report of a child’s disappearance.

Why register your child?

Families are distraught when they lose a child. Could you remember every identifying feature during the confusion and anxiety of reporting a lost or missing child?

Parents have acknowledged not even remembering what their child was wearing, not to mention birth marks, height and weight.

Children should be registered with Amber Alert at least once each year, and more frequently for infants/toddlers who grown and change very quickly.

Bring your children to be registered on August 4th at Ideal Image Salon to receive your free Amber Kids ID card. Additional ID cards will be available for $2 each.
