Pedestrian Killed In Shelton

A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle on Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton Tuesday.

The victim was identified Wednesday morning as Bethapudi Naga Tulasi Ram, of India. 

He was living in Waterbury and was a student at the University of Bridgeport, according to an updated statement from police.

There were two vehicles involved in the fatal pedestrian crash. Both operators were identified on scene and cooperated with police,” according to an email from Lt. Robert Kozlowsky.

In a prepared statement Tuesday, Detective Christopher Nugent said police responded to the area of 350 Bridgeport Ave. about 7:21 p.m. on a report of a multiple vehicle accident, which a pedestrian was also struck.”

Police, fire, and EMS responded.

The pedestrian, a 27-year-old-male from Waterbury, has been pronounced deceased,” Nugent said. 

Police said two vehicles were involved in the collision and that both operators were identified on scene and cooperated with police.

Police closed Bridgeport Avenue from Platt Road to the area of Cots Street as the police department’s accident reconstruction team investigated.
