Ansonia police continue to investigate a crash involving a fire truck Thursday evening, and have not yet determined who was at fault.

Lt. Andrew Cota said the department is hoping to talk to witnesses this weekend to finalize the accident report.

A ladder truck coming from Eagle Hose Co. on Main Street crashed into a car at the intersection of Kingston Drive and Main Street at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The fire truck was responding to an activated alarm at 435 East Main St., according to Fire Chief Joseph Kingston.

The driver of the car, a 55-year-old Ansonia woman, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. She has yet to be identified.

There were two firefighters in the truck at the time of the crash, Kingston said.

The woman had to be extricated from her car.

Kingston said the ladder truck suffered minor damage to the front bumper and the front passenger side.

The department is getting insurance estimates for repairs, but the truck is still operational and has been returned to service, Kingston said.

It appears that the fire truck had its lights and sirens on at the time of the crash, Cota said.

No tickets have been issued as of Friday.
