The Chamber Singers of the Connecticut Choral Society will be performing a selection of “Choral Music for the Holidays” at the Plumb Memorial Public Library at 65 Wooster St. in Shelton on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 2 p.m.

The Chamber Singers of the Connecticut Choral Society is an auditioned “ambassador group” of the Connecticut Choral Society, offering a wide variety of great music—from ancient madrigals to spirituals and folk songs to pop hits from the great American Songbook.

They perform a cappella music under the direction of singer and composer Ron Dukenski.  Ron has studied liturgical organ, and has held numerous positions as  organist and choirmaster within Connecticut.  Ron also enjoys composing music and is currently a composer-in-residence for the Connecticut Choral Society.

The production will take place in the library’s Main Reading Room. The performances are free of charge and light refreshments will be served following the performance.

As seating is limited, registration is required and can be done by calling the Plumb Memorial Library at (203) 924-1580 or visiting http://sheltonlibrarysystem.org/

A Christmas Carol

The Valley Shakespeare Festival will be presenting its fourth annual script-in hand reading of Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol” at the Plumb Memorial Public Library in Shelton on Friday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 9 at 1 p.m.

Valley Shakespeare Festival is a federally-certified non-profit theatre company based in Shelton.  A Christmas Carol, adapted for the event by Valley Shakespeare Festival’s Executive/Artistic Director Tom Simonetti, will be performed with minimal props and costuming and a cast of local and out-of-state actors, many of whom returning audience members will recognize from previous VSF productions.

Audience members will have an opportunity to mix and mingle with the cast and crew over refreshments provided by Plumb Library after both performances.

The production will take place in the Main Reading Room. The performances are free of charge with a suggested donation of $10 per person.

As seating is limited, registration is required and can be done by calling the Valley Shakespeare Festive at (203) 513-9446 or visiting them at www.vsfestival.org.
