Police Announce Parking Ban, Road Closures In Shelton For Memorial Day Parade

You will be only able to leave and enter via East Canal Street which may be difficult at times during the parade lineup period. The roads on the parade route close between 8 and 8:30 a.m.”

Shelton Police are notifying motorists of a parking ban and road closures in connection with the Derby-Shelton Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 25.

The parking ban along the parade route goes into effect at 6 a.m. in Shelton and will stay in effect until the parade is over. The roads will be closed at approximately 8 a.m.

The parade will begin at approximately 9 a.m. on Howe Avenue in Shelton (by the exit 14 ramp), and will proceed to Kneen Street, Coram Avenue, White Street, Howe Avenue, and then over the Derby-Shelton Bridge, where the route will follow into Derby.

The parking ban includes Howe Avenue (Route 110) from White Street to Kneen Street, Kneen Street from Howe Avenue to Coram Avenue, Coram Avenue from Kneen Street to White Street, White Street from Coram Avenue to Howe Avenue, Bridge Street (Route 712), and Cornell Street from Howe Avenue to Canal Street.

The night before the parade, a memorial service will be held at Shelton High School to honor veterans from Derby and Shelton who have died in the past year.

Starting Wednesday, police will put courtesy notices on cars along the parade route notifying owners they’ll need to be moved on Monday.
